On Sunday I went to the pumpkin competition. I looked at the giant pumpkins. My pumpkin was the biggest pumpkin in the competition. When it was judging , I got first prize. I had to stand on the potting mix for stands. My prize was a bike. After the competition we went to the bike shop. I'm getting a pinky purply bike with 21 gears. I had to get such a big bike because I grow fast, well, that's what my mum says. Sarah W

I saw my cat on the roof. Dad pushed my cat off the roof and I caught it. The cat was stripy and had an orange tail. My cat was scared. Dad put my cat on the roof again and it fell into a tree. Alex

I slept at Zion's house and when I was at Zion's house I stayed up late. In the morning we went to the cow shed. Then we carried the bottles of milk across the paddock and went on the motorbike back to the house. Then me and Zion got ready to go to my house. At my house we had lunch. After lunch I shared my chocolate bunny with Zion then we raced my cars down the slide and my car won and Zion won too. We watched TV then rode the bikes down the steps. Then I got a bee sting because I punched the window. We went to bed and in the night Zion wanted his nana. Casey

My birthday is on Sunday and I will tell you what I want for my birthday. A new monster truck! Zion

We went to an oyster farm. We picked some oysters for Grandad. Grandad told me to try an oyster and it tasted like blood and sea water.

The next day after lunch Grandad asked me and Christina if we wanted to go on the boat. I saw shiny fish in the blue water. Grandad was doing wheelies and sharp corners and I nearly puked. It was bumpy when I stood up so I fell back down.

Jingles, the black Chihuahua, was very happy that I came. When I got inside the house Jingles lay on the ground and when I bent over I gave him a tummy rub. When I sat down to watch TV he came over and licked my nose.

In the morning Grandad told us to come in their room. Grandad was holding up two big Easter eggs with chocolate buttons in them! I put mine in the fridge and when Nana came out of bed Nana gave us more easter eggs! It was yum. Sarah M

I went to Bream bay College Gala Day. There was a volcano bouncy castle and there was a lucky dip and there was medium dodgem cars. There were some girls dancing. - Eruera

I went to my dad's rugby to watch him play on the field. I was hungry for food so I went with my pop to his home. I saw my nan. She gave me a hug and a kiss. - Mererau

Super stories

I went to the camping grounds at Tutukaka with my nana and Whitey shortly
after school. We went to gather some pipis when the tide was out. You
had to dig in the squishy sand to get them.
We went for a big walk with John and Jenny, nana and Whitey, Ryan and me.
We were walking to the soft beach to play on the play ground. There was a
big swing and a bumpy slide.
My cousins came on the last day to have lunch with me, my mum, my dad, my
nana and Whitey. After lunch my cousins and my brother went for a swim.
Julie and I watched them swim. I could hear the waves crashing. Smash,
bang, crash as I watched them swim.
I saw a couple of spiky hedgehogs on the beach. They were so cute. I had
a lot of fun and we played cricket and soccer and we went walking on the
gooey mud flats with Whitey and nana. Squish, squish, squish!

Argument Writing

Room 1 have been learning about writing an argument. They give their opinion and some reasons to convince you to agree. See what you think!

In my opinion we should be allowed to play with the cameras at school. Everyone can look at the photos and then you can delete them so you don't waste the memory. Then we can do it all over again. And we already know how to do close-ups, medium and long shots. We will take pictures of good things happening all over the school. We will be careful. - Sarah M

In my opinion we shouldn't be allowed marshmellows at school because it isn't good for you because it has sugar in it. Sugar makes your teeth rot. Other people would follow you. - Alex

In my opinion we should be allowed to play on the computer all day. We should be allowed to play maths games because we learn our maths on there. It's a good idea to learn it when I am 5 or 6, not 10, because that is way too old to learn them when you are 10.
